Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Some experiences are hard to reach through talk alone.

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy creates space for what sits beneath language—helping soften protective patterns so emotions, memories, and insight can surface with greater ease. The environment, the pacing, and the presence of your therapist all matter. Healing is held in a space designed for reflection, safety, and reconnection.

This is psychotherapy supported by medicine, but also by setting and intention—so what unfolds can be explored, integrated, and carried forward in a way that feels grounded and real.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) combines ketamine treatment with psychotherapy to support emotional healing, insight, and lasting change.

During KAP sessions, ketamine may help quiet habitual thought patterns and increase openness, allowing therapeutic work to happen from a different place of awareness. Sessions are facilitated by trained practitioners who help guide preparation, support the experience itself, and assist with integration afterward.

This process can help individuals:

  • Access emotions or memories that feel difficult to reach

  • Shift entrenched thought patterns

  • Reduce self-criticism and emotional reactivity

  • Increase self-awareness and emotional flexibility

  • Deepen therapeutic progress

At Martin Healing Sanctuary, we believe healing happens not only during treatment, but through the intentional integration of the experience into everyday life.

Why consider Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

  • Are you struggling with interpersonal or relationship challenges?

  • Do you have a mental health diagnosis, such as Post-Traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD), Treatment-Resistant Depression, Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar I or II disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), psychological reactions to physical illness, or an Eating Disorder?

  • Do you struggle with past trauma?

  • Are you seeking answers to existential questions?

  • Are you sick and tired of psychiatric medications?

  • Do you continue to suffer with no viable help in sight?

When years of therapy haven’t helped you move forward, Psychedelic Therapy can create transformational change where traditional therapy hasn’t worked.

The KAP Process at martin healing sanctuary

KAP at Martin Healing Sanctuary is a collaborative, phased process that integrates medical care and psychotherapy. Each stage builds on the last, allowing treatment to progress at a pace that supports both safety and depth treatment.

The process begins with an introductory consultation where we learn more about your goals, history, and what brings you to treatment. This is an opportunity to ask questions, discuss concerns, and determine whether ketamine therapy may be an appropriate fit.

Integrated Medical & Psychological Assessment

1

Medical and psychological evaluations are conducted collaboratively rather than in isolation. Prescribers and therapists work together to assess eligibility, risks, and readiness, creating a shared foundation for individualized care.

Designing an Individualized Dosing Strategy

2

There is no universal ketamine dose. Dosing decisions are tailored to each client based on sensitivity, trauma history, anxiety levels, dissociation tolerance, and therapeutic goals, with adjustments made over time as needed.

Preperation sessions

3

3 preparation sessions are always held within an ongoing therapeutic relationship, allowing experiences to be supported, paced, and integrated. Medicine is only provided within a therapeutic frame.

Medicine

Medicine sessions are always held within an ongoing therapeutic relationship, allowing experiences to be supported, paced, and integrated. Medicine is only provided within a therapeutic frame.

Treatment sessions take place in a calm, supportive environment designed to help clients feel comfortable and grounded.

Throughout the experience, patients are monitored by trained professionals who prioritize safety and compassionate care.

Sessions are intentionally unhurried, allowing time for rest, reflection, and recovery afterward.

integration

5

Healing does not end when the session is over. Integration sessions help translate ketamine experiences into lasting change. Clients process insights, emotions, and patterns in therapy, ensuring the work continues beyond the medicine session itself.

Clients may choose to continue working with therapists, wellness practitioners, or other members of the Martin Sanctuary community to support ongoing healing and personal growth.

Our goal is to provide care that feels sustainable, connected, and deeply human.

How Ketamine Therapy works

The Experiential Effect

Ketamine dissociates the mind from the body, providing us with a glimpse into our unconscious without losing consciousness. Many refer to this as a higher consciousness.

The experience can change how we perceive the world and our present circumstances by offering a unique and objective view of oneself.

Psychedelic therapy has allowed many people to drastically shift their perspective to one that feels inherently true, allowing for psychedelic healing.

The Psychological Effect

Ketamine therapy can’t undo negative past experiences. It can, however, help us view our experiences without judgment.

The perceptual shift can move us out of feeling stuck in our troubles to seeing new possibilities and ways of being.

For many patients, the Ketamine experience can be a potent catalyst for change that might otherwise take months or years to access using more commonplace therapeutic techniques.

The Biological Effect

Ketamine is known for its antidepressant effect. Long-term depression can cause a loss of connections in our brains, called synapses, that facilitate nerve cell communication.

Research shows that within 24 hours of receiving the first dose of medically-supervised Ketamine, lost connections begin to regrow.

Regrowing and reactivating synapses can support the brain in shifting out of depression and helping you create new pathways that support the life you want to live.
